Happy Easter and Thank You! |
Lexi and I returned to Freiburg a week ago today. Needless to say, Saturday I am out getting food so I go to the farmer's market in Rieselfeld. My veggie vendor was pleased to see me and gave me the orange flower, so kind! Then I went to the flower shop to get a present for my neighbours that look after my mail. Bought a red rose plant for them and the freesia (white flowers) for me and the lady there gave me the three pink roses. Bonus flower day and very pleased to get them!
Here are a few pictures from my rooftop. Why? Because the ornate detail is not usually seen in modern North America.
The top two pictures are of a building across the street from me that are tourist apartments. The next ones are from the building next to mine which hasn't (yet) been turned into apartments. It is a growing trend especially evident this year, I think, to turn buildings that used to be church warehouses or regular apartments into ones for tourists to meet the growing demand for visitors to Spain. It is a phenomenon in many European cities and there have been protests in Barcelona against it. As always there are two, or more, sides to the issue so that's all I will say on that but if you want to learn more the YouTube vlog Spain Revealed approaches the issue from both sides.
Happy Easter from Lexi Cat (the great travelling cat) and I!
